Two people taken to hospital after van and lorry crash on Cambridgeshire A-road

Two people have been taken to hospital after a crash on a Cambridgeshire A-road[1] on Thursday morning (March 6). The crash was first reported at around 7.20am. Emergency services, including police and ambulance, were called to the A1 near Stibbington.

The road was closed on the southbound carriageway between the A47 near Peterborough and the A605 near Alwalton. The crash involved a van and a lorry, with one person taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital and another taken to Peterborough City Hospital. A diversion route has been put in place[2] and motorists have been asked to avoid the area. A spokesperson for East of England Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 7.23am with reports of a collision on the A1 near Stibbington.

We sent a Magpas Air Ambulance response car, two ambulances, a critical care vehicle and an ambulance officer vehicle. "One person was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital and one person was taken to Peterborough[3] City Hospital." A Cambridgeshire[4] Police spokesperson added: "Emergency services are at the scene of a collision involving a van and a lorry which happened on the A1 at Stibbington just before 7.20am.

The A1 remains closed at Stibbington in both directions and motorists are urged to avoid the area."
