Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called at 3.25am on Monday morning after reports of a fire on the M40. The incident involved a van that was 'well alight' on the hard shoulder between junction four for High Wycombe and junction five for Stokenchurch. A road closure was put in place to make the area safe.
Two sets of breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera were used to extinguish the flames.
