M27: Weekend closure near Fareham for repair works

Central reservation repair works will take place between junctions 11 and 12 near Fareham[1] this weekend. The speed limit will be reduced to 50mph while the works are carried out, according to National Highways. Motorists can expect daytime lane closures and overnight closures across the two days.
During the day on Saturday and Sunday, two lanes will be running in each direction, and the speed limit will be reduced to 50mph. The motorway will completely close to traffic in both directions from 9pm today until 6am on Saturday and from 9pm on Sunday to 6am on Monday. Lane closures and a 50mph limit will also be in place overnight on Saturday.
Anup Shrestha, National Highways service delivery manager, said: "A robust central reservation barrier is a crucial safety feature on motorways. "We need these closures to work safely and to allow time for the concrete to cure. "We plan our work carefully to minimise disruption and we are carrying out the majority of this maintenance at night when traffic is at its lightest.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank drivers for their patience and remind those planning on passing through this section of the M27 - or using one of our diversion routes - to allow extra time to complete their journeys." The repairs are separate to work taking place for the M27 junction 10 improvement scheme, delivered by Hampshire County Council. A signed diversion route will take drivers onto the A27 between the Portsbridge and Delme roundabouts, before rejoining the motorway.
Drivers travelling to or from Surrey over the weekend are urged to plan, with the barrier work coinciding with a full weekend closure of the M25 between junctions 10 and 11.
