Lorry crashes into scaffolding outside pub in Tavistock

A busy road in a town in Devon was blocked after a lorry crashed into scaffolding on a building this morning, Monday, March 3. Whitchurch Road in Tavistock[1] is blocked near The Market Inn, with heavy traffic building in the area[2]. Drivers were told to avoid the area where possible and expect delays. DevonAlert said: "There has been an RTC on Whitchurch Road, Tavistock outside The Market Inn.
Please expect delays, and find an alternative route if possible." Roads and traffic monitoring site, Inrix, also reported the crash. It said: "Whitchurch Road in both directions partially blocked, heavy traffic due to accident and scaffolding in the road near the Market Inn."
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at 7.30am to Whitchurch Road, following a report that a lorry had collided with some scaffolding on a building.
"Some wires have also been hit and Western Power are attending.
Highways are closing the road so that the scene can be safely assessed."
