Live Kent M20 updates after all traffic was held for crash

Drivers faced delays on the M20[1] near Maidstone[2] this morning (Monday, March 17) following a crash involving a lorry and a car. Congestion had built on the London-bound carriageway between Junction 6, for Maidstone and Blue Bell Hill, and Junction 5, near Aylesford. All traffic had been briefly held along this stretch of the motorway.
The collision was then moved to the hard shoulder and all lanes re-opened. Residual queues and delays remained in the area for a time however. National Highway reported delays of around 10 minutes on the London-bound carriageway as a result.
A spokesperson for Kent Police said: "Kent Police was called at 8.14am on Monday 17 March to a collision involving a lorry and a car on the Londonbound carriage of the M20, between junctions 6 and 5. Patrols and highways officers are currently at the scene where no injuries have been reported." Traffic returned to normal along this stretch of the M20 shortly before 9am.
