Driver in hospital after car ‘rear-ends’ lorry on notorious corner

The car was travelling westbound on the A35 when the crash happened at Morden Park Corner shortly after 12pm on Monday, March 3. Images captured by Simon Shaw show a fire engine and ambulance service at the notorious corner, which has often been described as an accident blackspot. The lane was blocked westbound, affecting traffic both ways, as well as traffic at Chitten Hill coming from Sandford.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters had to remain on scene while the lorry was being recovered because it's a "dangerous corner". A spokeswoman said: "There was a collision between a car and a lorry on Dorchester Road, Lytchett Minster on 3 March, a small 4x4 appliance from Poole came across the incident at 12.02pm and asked for a fire engine to also attend so there were more firefighters to support scene safety. "The car driver is now in the care of the ambulance service, our stop was at 12.51pm but we are still on scene as the lorry is on a dangerous corner."
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service said: "We sent one double-crewed land ambulance and a rapid response vehicle to the scene.
We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Dorset County Hospital."
Dorset Police added: "No injuries were reported and there was no requirement for police to attend."
