Busy Cambs road closed for hours after lorry overturns

An overturned lorry closed the A1 southbound in Brampton this morning (Saturday, March 8). The road was closed for more than eight hours as emergency resurfacing work is needed. National Highways first reported the incident just after midnight at 12.35am and said the A1 is expected to be closed until the afternoon.
Traffic was being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads. Traffic monitoring company Inrix reported: "A1 southbound closed, long delays due to overturned lorry and emergency resurfacing repairs at A1307 (Brampton Hut)." The road reopened just before 6pm.
