Air ambulance lands at major scene of crash involving ‘lorry and motorbike’

A huge cordon was put in place following the incident

An air ambulance was scrambled to the scene of a major crash that reportedly involved a lorry and a motorbike in Wigan[1] on Wednesday evening (March 19).

Emergency services raced to serious collision on Ormskirk Road, in the Pemberton area and put a large cordon in place.

Norley Hall Avenue and Edenfield Street were also blocked off following the horror crash. Witnesses reported seeing two males on the bike involved, but this has not yet been confirmed.

A huge police response was pictured in attendance, with multiple police vans and vehicles, along with ambulances, incident response units and an air ambulance along with critical care teams.

A large white lorry was pictured within the police tape on nearby Enfield Street with a crushed wheel arch. A badly damaged motorbike was also seen on the ground and was being inspected by officers.

Ormskirk Road (A577) was closed off in both directions from Smethurst Lane to Brindley Street.

The collision was reported close to the Methodist church.

Further details about the nature of the incident or condition of those involved has not yet been confirmed. Greater Manchester Police[3] have been contacted for a statement.
