Surrey woman in her 20s dies after being hit by a lorry

A lorry driver has been arrested after a woman from Surrey has died following a crash. Hampshire police are appealing for witnesses following the fatal road traffic collision in Portsmouth. Police were called just before 8.30am on Tuesday, February 11, following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a lorry being driven on the roundabout junction of Gunstore Road and Norway Road.

The pedestrian, a woman aged in her 20s and from Guildford[1], was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the lorry, a 45-year-old man from Romford, Havering, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care or consideration while unfit through drugs. He has been released under investigation while further enquiries are carried out, said Hampshire police.

Anyone who witnessed this collision, or have any relevant dash cam or CCTV footage has been asked to contact Hampshire police.

Officers are keen to speak to the driver of a light blue Kia Soul with a white roof that stopped just in front of the lorry immediately after the collision occurred, as the driver may be a key witness.
