Road freight in Cyprus sees 9.9 per cent increase in Q3-24

The total weight of goods transported by road within Cyprus rose by 9.9 per cent in the third quarter of 2024, when compared to the same period in 2023, according to a report released by the Statistical Service on Friday. Conversely, the weight of freight transported by road to and from Cyprus declined by 3.6 per cent during the same period. For the first nine months of 2024, the total weight of goods transported domestically by road increased by 7.5 per cent year-on-year.
In addition, road freight to and from Cyprus also saw a modest rise of 1.6 per cent.
Although Cyprus is an island, road freight to and from the country refers to cargo transported through a combination of road and sea routes.
This typically involves trucks or trailers being loaded onto ferries (Roll-on/Roll-off transport) or goods being moved in containers that travel by ship before continuing by road at their destination.
