A man has died and another is critical after a crash involving two pedestrians, a car and a lorry last night (Sunday). The tragedy happened on the A534, near the Holt Lodge in Wrexham[1], shortly before 7.10pm. A North Wales Police statement this morning said: "At 19:09 hours on Sunday the 2nd of February 2025, North Wales Police[2] received a report of a collision involving two pedestrians, a car and a lorry on the A534 Wrexham Road in Holt, Wrexham near the Holt Lodge Inn.
"Emergency services attended, however, one of the males was pronounced dead at the scene with the other being taken to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries." Sergeant Leigh McCann from the North Wales Police Roads Crime Unit is appealing for witnesses. He said: "Sadly this is now being investigated as a fatal road traffic collision and our thoughts are with the two Men's families at this very difficult time."
"We are urging anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or anybody who may have been travelling or walking along Wrexham Road near the Holt lodge hotel and who may have any information or dash camera footage to contact us." "The road remains closed to allow the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit to carry out their initial investigation and we'd like to thank everyone for their patience." Earlier North Wales Police has issued this statement: "Following a serious Road Traffic Collision, Wrexham Road in Holt will remain closed until at least 1200hrs Monday 3rd February as investigations at scene are completed.
"We advise any motorists that would usually use this route to allow additional time for travel and to follow signed diversions. We are appreciative of the public's understanding." Anybody with information is urged to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit via the live webchat on the website, or by calling 101, quoting reference number C015671.
