Man in 60s dies after car crashed into lorry parked in A14 layby

Emergency services were called to the wesbtound carriageway near Stowmarket at about 11.40pm on Thursday.  A black Ford C-Max collided into a Volve skip loader, parked in a layby[1].  Police, ambulance, a paramedic from Suffolk Accident Rescue Service and fire crews were all in attendance but a man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.

The westbound carriageway was closed for several hours betwen junction 50 and 49 while an investigation was carried out. 

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the crash, or for any drivers who travelled westbound on the A14 between Felixstowe and Stowmarket after 11:00pm last night and who have dash-cam footage, to contact police.
