M5 crash in Worcester: ‘multiple vehicles’ involved in smash

The man, in his 50s, and another person were left in the care of the ambulance service after being freed from the vehicle. The crash which involved two vans and two cars happened shortly before 11am on Monday between junction 7 (Worcester South) and junction 8 (Strensham). The incident resulted in delays of 60 minutes as the police, fire service and ambulance service attended the crash.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "Emergency services are currently at the scene at a multi-vehicle collision on the M5 at the slip road on junction 7 to 8. No arrests have been made." National Highways has also provided an update to say that all lanes are now open on the M5 between J7 (Worcester) and J8 (Strensham).

RECOMMENDED READING: M5 crash southbound in Worcester causing long delays[1] RECOMMENDED READING: The Fairway in Worcester so bad it damages our cars[2] A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews - one each from Worcester and Droitwich Fire Stations, supported by a Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service crew from Tewkesbury were called at 10.51am on February 10 to an RTC on the M5 northbound between junctions 8 and 7.

"The incident involved four vehicles, two vans and two cars, with one male casualty in his 50s medically trapped. "The casualty was extricated from his vehicle, and with another casualty, was handed over to the care of the ambulance service who attended along with police. "The incident was marked as pending closure at 12.13pm."

The West Midlands Ambulance Service was approached for a comment.
