A crash closed part of the M4 near Newport for more than an hour on Friday afternoon. The westbound carriageway was closed just after 1pm between junction 24 at Coldra and junction 25 for Caerleon. Traffic Wales, which monitors the main routes in Wales, said just after 1.15pm: "Road closed at this time.
More updates to come." The organisation also shared a picture of the closed motorway. Traffic monitors are showing that the vehicles involved in the crash have been moved to the hard shoulder.
Monitoring system Inrix said just before 2pm: "Severe delays due to accident, now on the hard shoulder on M4 Westbound from J24 A449 (Coldra) to J25A A4042 (Cwmbran).
"All lanes now open after road was closed for nearly an hour to move vehicles involved."
