Lorry crash: woman in serious condition as police launch investigation
Emergency services were called to a report of a collision involving five vehicles on the M23 southbound between junction 9 and junction 10, in Pound Hill, Crawley on February 19 at 10.15am. Sussex Police, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service were all in attendance. A woman was taken to East Surrey Hospital in a serious condition, where she remains.
It is believed she is now in a stable condition. Two others who were also involved in the collision were taken to hospital having suffered minor injuries. Traffic yesterday on the M23 (Image: Sussex News and Pictures) West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service deployed[1] fire engines from Crawley and East Grinstead to the scene, as well as a heavy rescue tender.
Police were dispatched to close the road, which lasted until 1pm whilst they investigated the circumstances of the incident and cleared the scene.
Officers have since launched a witness appeal to find out what happened.
A spokeswoman said: "Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident is asked to contact Sussex Police online or call 101 quoting serial 275 of 19/02."
