Long queues on M60, M61 and M62 after crash and broken down lorry

Commuters faced long queues on three motorways following two incidents this morning. A broken down lorry blocked traffic on the M60 anticlockwise between junctions 16 at Clifton and 17 at Prestwich earlier today (February 11). The incident caused queues to form approaching the scene, tailing back onto the M62 at the other side of Simister Island.

There was also heavy traffic on the M61 southbound, approaching the ring road. Drivers heading westbound from Yorkshire to Manchester were also facing delays near Rochdale, following a crash on the exit slip road for junction 20 at the A627(M). National Highways data showed queues tailing back to junction 22 at Saddleworth.

There was also slow traffic on the clockwise M60 approaching the M61 this morning. Further details about the collision near Rochdale are yet to be confirmed. Both incidents have now cleared, according to the Inrix traffic monitoring service.
