Live M6 traffic updates as ‘serious’ crash near Stoke-on-Trent leaves northbound carriageway closed

The M6 motorway is shut to traffic following a 'serious' crash in North Staffordshire tonight (Friday, February 28). All emergency services are at the scene and the northbound carriageway is closed between Junction 15 (Stoke-on-Trent) and Junction 16 (Crewe). The closure was first reported shortly after 8pm and a traffic diversion route is now in place.
It comes after a crash in the same area on Thursday night that left a lorry driver dead.[1][2] A National Highways spokesperson said: "The M6 in Staffordshire is closed northbound between J15 (Stoke-on-Trent) and J16 (Crewe) following a serious collision. "All emergency services including Staffordshire Police are in attendance.
National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management."
