Live: Car fire closes M4 exit slip road and causes big delays

Major traffic delays built up on the M4[1] motorway in Gloucestershire following a car fire this evening, Thursday, February 27. Traffic was heavy on the M4 westbound exit slip road at junction 18 for the A46 (Bath/Tormarton). Traffic site Inrix first reported the incident at 07.16pm.
It said: "M4 westbound exit slip road closed, heavy traffic due to vehicle fire at J18 A46 (Bath/Tormarton)." Google Maps also showed slow traffic in that area. The road has now reopened.
National Highways reported: "The vehicle fire has been extinguished and the vehicle is awaiting recovery.
There are no delays."
