Drug dealing suspects from Birmingham arrested after M42 car stop near Tamworth

Drug dealing suspects from Birmingham were arrested after a car was stopped on a motorway near Tamworth[1]. Staffordshire Police[2] officers pulled a car over on the M42, at Junction 9, the turn off for Sutton Coldfield[3], Lichfield[4] and Kingsbury shortly before 4.30pm on Wednesday (January 29). Three men from Birmingham[5] were inside. Officers found a small amount of cannabis, a number of mobile phones and hundreds in cash.

The three suspects, a 29-year-old man, a 46-year-old man and a 49-year-old man, were all arrested on suspicion of dealing heroin and crack cocaine. A spokesperson for Staffordshire[7] Police said: "Three men have been arrested on suspicion of class A drug conspiracy after we stopped a car on the M42 in Tamworth. Officers from the road crime team (RCT), supported by proactive officers, pulled the car over at about 4.25pm on Wednesday (January 29) at junction nine.

"Three men were searched inside. We found a small amount of cannabis, six mobile phones and GBP290 in cash. Three men from Birmingham were arrested: on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine.

All three were questioned and released under investigation while our enquiries continue.

"We're continuing to target the organised gangs responsible for drug supply and high harm offences across Staffordshire.

Since we launched our crackdown on these types of crimes in May 2023, we have arrested more than 1,000 people suspected of drug and weapon offences locally."
