A man who died in a horror crash between a car and a lorry on the A90[1] in Aberdeenshire[2] has been named as 53-year-old Gyorgy Jaczko. The collision happened at around 1pm on Friday, January 17 and involved an HGV and a grey Toyota Rav 4 on the A90, at Auchiries, Peterhead[3]. Emergency services[4] rushed to the scene shortly after and Mr Gyorgy, the driver of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Jaczko was from the Peterhead area. The A90 remained closed for around 13 hours while accident investigation work was carried out, and reopened at around 2am on Saturday, January 18. Police Scotland[5] confirmed a 47-year-old man who was driving the lorry was uninjured in the crash.

Sergeant Eoin Maxwell said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Gyorgy at his difficult time and they have asked that their privacy is respected."
