Driver trapped after serious crash between Land Rover and lorry

A serious two-vehicle crash that left a driver trapped closed a road through Newent today[1], Wednesday, February 19. The B4215 Bridge Street was closed between Tewkesbury Road and High Street. The injured driver was extracted from the vehicle and taken to Gloucester Royal Hospital for treatment.
A witness reported seeing multiple emergency services vehicles[2] near the road's junction for Ledbury in the Forest of Dean. It's understood that a Land Rover and a lorry collided near the fire station. Gloucestershire Police have issued a statement which reads: "Emergency services were called to a collision on Bridge Street in Newent at around 9.30am today (Wednesday).
The collision happened near to the fire station and involved a lorry and a Land Rover with a trailer. "One driver was assessed by paramedics and the other was mechanically trapped inside a vehicle and freed by the fire service. He will go to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital to be checked over.
Recovery of the vehicles is in progress and the road will remain closed until that has happened." South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) were called at 9.33am this morning, Wednesday, February 19, to a road-traffic collision in Newent. A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an operations officer, and the hazardous area response team to the scene.
We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Gloucester Royal Hospital."
