The M6 was shut in both directions this afternoon following a serious crash on the major motorway. The northbound and southbound carriageways were blocked[1] between J10A and J11 A460 Cannock[2]. Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash.

Highway bosses warned drivers to "avoid the area". Heavy traffic was reported following the collision. Trapped traffic on the northbound carriageway was being turned around.
