A2 delays near Kent M25 after broken down lorry near tunnel

Drivers were facing severe delays on the A2 Eltham this morning during rush hour as one lane was closed due to a broken down lorry. The lorry was on the A2 westbound from Riefield Road, for Falconwood Interchange, to the A205 South Circular. There was congestion to Dartford[1], almost stretching back to the M25[2] at one point.

Traffic had been held temporarily before the Eltham Tunnel. Traffic[3] monitoring site Inrix said: "Severe delays and one lane closed due to broken down lorry on A2 Westbound from Riefield Road (Falconwood Interchange) to A205 South Circular. Congestion to Dartford, almost back to the M25."

"One lane allowed past again before the Eltham Tunnel, after being held (apart from a short gap) since 7.25am." This was a live event. Follow our blog below for what happened.
