A19 motorists face delays after crash between car and lorry
Motorists travelling north on the A19 faced delays on Tuesday morning after a crash between a car and a HGV. The crash occurred just north of the A182 Murton Interchange, the turn off for Dalton Park, and at one point traffic was backed up as far as Peterlee Roundabout. One lane was closed to allow for the recovery of the vehicles.
A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: "Police were called at 6am today (February 11) following a collision on the A19 near Dalton Park. "The incident happened on the northbound carriageway and involved a car and a lorry. One lane was closed to allow for recovery of the vehicles."
It is understood that no-one was injured in the collision and the North East Ambulance Service were not required. Drivers travelling southbound on the A19 from Sunderland[1] into County Durham[2] also faced travel disruption on Tuesday morning due to two broken down cars. One was between the A183 and A1231 slip roads, whilst another was on the slip road of the A183 at Chester Road.
