Teen shot in attempted robbery, Freeport police search for suspects

FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) - Police respond to reports of an 18-year-old with a gunshot wound after he says two teens tried to rob him.

Just before 2:45 p.m. Jan.

20, Freeport police were called to FHN Hospital for a report of an 18-year-old with a gunshot wound.

The victim says he was in the 1000 block of W. Smith St. when two teenage boys approached him and told him to empty his pockets.

The victim hit one of the suspects and was shot in the arm while trying to run away.

He was treated at FHN and released.

One suspect was identified by the victim as a black male, the other was wearing a mask.
