Yesterday at 18:41A man has died following a crash between a motorbike and a lorry in Co Antrim, police have confirmed.
The collision occurred in the Steeple Road area of Antrim, close to the junction of the Crosskennan Road on Thursday morning.
Inspector Cherith Adair of the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Collision Investigation Unit said: "At approximately 9.35am, we received a report of a two vehicle road traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a lorry.
"The male, who was the rider of the motorcycle, sadly died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
"The Steeple Road remains closed at this time.
"Enquiries are continuing and anyone who witnessed the collision or with CCTV or other footage that could assist with our investigation is asked to contact police at the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting reference number 325 16/01/25."
The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service had earlier confirmed "no patients were taken from the scene" of the crash.
In a statement a NIAS spokesperson said: "The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 9:34 on Thursday January 16 following reports of an RTC on the Steeple Road, Antrim.
"NIAS despatched two Emergency Crews, one Rapid Response Vehicle and one Doctor to the incident.
"No patients were taken from the scene."
The Steeple Road remains closed following the incident, with diversions in place at the junction of Rough Lane.
SDLP Antrim councillor Roisin Lynch has offered her condolences following the incident.
"I'd like to offer my condolences to the family and friends of the man who was killed in this crash on Thursday morning," she said.
"To lose a loved one in such sudden circumstances must be utterly devastating and the thoughts of people in this area are with them as they come to terms with this terrible tragedy.
"I'm also thinking of the emergency services who responded to this incident.
Police have appealed for information and I would ask anyone who can help them to get in touch."
