Man in his 20s dies after being hit by lorry

A man who was "seriously" injured after a collision involving a lorry near Wigston[1] has died. The 22-year-old had been walking along the A5199 near Kilby Bridge when he was struck by the lorry last Friday (January 17). The incident, which happened at about 6.30am, left the man seriously injured.

In an update, Leicestershire Police[2] said the man had died as a result of his injuries on Monday (January 20). A 53-year-old man was arrested at the scene[3] after the collision on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving a vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug over limit. He was later released under investigation.

Our investigation to establish the circumstances of what happened is continuing and I'd appeal for anyone who can help, but who has not yet spoken to us, to come forward.
