Long delays on M27 near Bursledon due to vehicle fire

Video footage captured by ITV Meridian shows firefighters dealing with a car fire on the M27.

There are long delays on the M27 tonight following a vehicle fire.

Emergency services were called to a stretch of the eastbound carriageway between junction 8 for Bursledon and Junction 9 for Whiteley earlier this evening.

A pick-up style truck was reportedly on fire in one of the refuge areas.

An ambulance attempts to get through stationary traffic on the M27.

Multiple fire crews could be seen tackling the blaze, which has caused queues of more than 30 minutes on approach.

One lane is open on the eastbound carriageway, and traffic is queuing past junction 7 for Hedge End.

The condition of the driver is not yet known.
