Floral tributes left on A28 Canterbury bridge over M20 in Ashford after young woman’s tragic death

Floral tributes have been left at a motorway bridge after the tragic death of a woman in her 20s. Emergency crews were called to the M20 in Ashford on Thursday (January 23) after a person was struck by a lorry.
The route, and the A28 Canterbury Road bridge above, were shut for several hours. It was reported someone had fallen into the path of a vehicle.
Police later confirmed a woman in her 20s had died. Several bunches of flowers have been tied to the bridge over the busy route by members of the public. One message reads: "May you rest in peace, dear girl."
Another says: "Sorry for what you went through.
"Sorry it ended like it did. Sleep tight - always in our memories and loved always."
After the incident, a police spokesman told KentOnline: "We were called to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a lorry near Junction 9 of the M20 coast-bound at Ashford shortly before 1pm on January 23. "Emergency services attended and the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.
"Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of a woman in her twenties have been informed.
"Officers are preparing a report for the coroner."
