Delays after car overturns in crash with lorry on major A road

A stretch of a busy A-road in Lincolnshire was closed by police on Friday (January 31) after a car overturned following a crash with a lorry. It happened between between the B668 and A606, near Stamford. The road was closed as a result at just after 3pm, with delays building.

Traffic information service Inrix said it was affecting traffic travelling between Grantham and Stamford. National Highways said police were at the scene with the vehicle due to be recovered. Its initial update on the incident said: "The A1 southbound between B668 and A606 near Stamford is closed due to an overturned car following a collision with a lorry. @LincsPoliceOps[1] on scene and vehicle recovery en-route.

Inrix said it was affecting traffic between Grantham and Stamford.

The vehicles involved had been removed from the carriageway by 5pm and the road reopened.

National Highways said: "@LincsPoliceOps have reopened the road with residual delays in the area beginning to ease."
