All the M6, M5 and M42 closures affecting West Midlands drivers over the weekend

Drivers travelling in the West Midlands have been warned of numerous closures on the motorways this weekend. National Highways has revealed the routes that face delays tonight on Sunday and into Monday (January 12 and 13). The closures affect the M6, M5 and M42[1].

These are mainly link roads or slip roads that will be shut, however some carriageways will also be affected. Some are currently closed, while others will be shut at 9pm this evening. National Highways regularly publishes closures affecting motorways and A-roads in the country.

M6

  • J7 to J10 northbound carriageway closure for resurfacing work from 9pm on Sunday (January 12) to 6am on Monday (January 13). Diversions will be in place.
  • J4a southbound to M42 J8 northbound link-road closure for HS2 works from 3am on Saturday (January 11) to 5am on Monday (January 13).

    Diversions will be in place.

  • J6 to J5 southbound carriageway closure for maintenance works between 9pm on Sunday (January 12) to 6am on Monday (January 13). Diversions will be in place.

M5

  • M5 northbound link-road to M6 northbound J8 carriageway closure for carriageway resurfacing between 9pm on Sunday (January 12) to 6am on Monday (January 13). Diversions will be in place.
  • J1 to J2 southbound carriageway closure for maintenance works between 9pm on Sunday (January 12) to 6am on Monday (January 13).

    Diversions will be in place.

M42

  • J8 southbound to M6 J4a link-road closure for HS2 works between 3am on Saturday (January 11) to 5am on Monday (January 13).

    Diversions will be in place.

  • J10 northbound entry slip-road closure for maintenance works between 9pm on Sunday (January 12) to 6am on Monday (January 13).

    Diversions will be in place.
