A358 traffic: Road reopens after lorry ditch crash and fire

A key road through a rural area has been reopened after a burnt lorry was recovered from the roadside.

Avon and Somerset Police officers were called to the A358 at Halsway Hill near Crowcombe, Somerset, shortly before 08:00 GMT on Wednesday.

A lorry had veered off the road into a ditch and burst into flames.

No-one was injured in the incident but a "major clear-up and repair operation" was launched.

Somerset Council said teams had been working "round the clock" to recover the wreckage, along with clearing "significant fuel and mud" from the tarmac.
