A17 closed until Monday following fatal crash
The vehicles collided on the A17 just after 07:00 GMT on Friday.
The driver of the lorry, a 68-year-old man, and the driver of the van, a 23-year-old man, were both pronounced dead at the scene, the force said.
Officers completed their enquiries at the scene on Saturday afternoon.
The closures remained in place to allow debris to be cleared by National Highways.
The force asked drivers to heed the closure signs as the roads beyond have not been gritted and are icy.
Motorists who had ignored the signs had been issued with penalty notices, officers said.
