Man taken to hospital after M20 lorry crash

A man has been taken to hospital following a crash on the M20[1] this morning (December 18). The motorway was closed[2] London-bound between junctions 4 and 3 at 6.40am due to the collision, which involved a car and a lorry. After a 40-minute hold, two lanes had reopened and, at 8.30am, all lanes were open for drivers.

There were rush-hour delays of up to an hour throughout the morning, and surrounding roads were also congested as a result. Travel delays were reported on the M26, A2 and the A229 near Leybourne, Maidstone[3] and Detling Hill. A diversion route was being used via Bluebell Hill, which also became congested.

Kent Police arrived at the scene shortly after the crash was reported. A spokesperson said: "Kent Police was called at 6.18am on Wednesday, December 18 to a collision involving a car and a lorry on the London-bound carriageway of the M20, between junctions 4 and 3. "Officers attended the scene where the car driver reported injuries.

He was conveyed to a local hospital for further medical attention and arrangements were made to recover his vehicle."
