Man in 50s dies after being struck by lorry on M25

A man in his 50s has died after being hit by a lorry on the M25. The motorway was closed clockwise between Junction 3 for Swanley[1] and Junction 5 for Orpington[2].

Police were called at 9.45am after reports of a pedestrian being hit by a lorry near Junction 4. A man in his 50s was confirmed deceased at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed. Officers say there are no suspicious circumstances and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

Paramedics and the air ambulance were also at the scene, and National Highways traffic officers assisted with traffic management. The road reopened four hours later, shortly before 2pm.

It had caused significant disruption this morning with a diversion put in place for motorists caught in long queues.
