Lorry and tractor crash shut A30 overnight

The A30 in Cornwall has reopened this afternoon after being closed for around 15-hours following a major crash. A man suffered serious injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital after a van and a tractor collided on the road near Camborne. National Highways said the road was shut eastbound at Camborne since around 9.30pm on Monday, December 16.

According to traffic monitor Inrix, it reopened at around 12.30pm today (Tuesday, December 17). In addition to an ongoing crash investigation, oil spilled onto the road at the scene which had to be cleared before the road could reopen. Traffic was diverted around the closure via the A3047.

National Highways said: "Due to the seriousness of the collision, Devon and Cornwall Police are conducting collision investigations at the scene. The road has been closed eastbound to allow this work to take place." Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Emergency services were called at 8.40pm following the collision between a grey Ford Tourneo van and a tractor with a trailer on the eastbound carriageway at Tolvaddon.

"The male van driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital."
