Live M6 traffic updates as Christmas Day crash leaves road closed in Cumbria
The M6 motorway was closed following a crash in Cumbria on Christmas Night (December 25). Both the northbound and southbound carriageways were shut between Junction 41 and Junction 42. The closures were first reported at around 11.35pm, with National Highways describing the crash as 'serious'.
The motorway had reopened to traffic by shortly before 1am on Boxing Day and earlier diversions were removed. A National Highways spokesperson said: "The M6 is now open in both directions between J41 Hutton-in-the-Forest and J42 Carleton following an earlier serious collision. Delays clearing well in the area.
Have a safe journey and thanks for your patience."
