Live: M5 chaos near Bristol as two crashes spark long delays

Drivers on the M5 are facing delays in both directions this afternoon (December 27), after two separate incidents left the motorway partially blocked. Shortly before 3pm, Inrix reported an incident on the southbound carriageway near Junction 16 for Aztec West, as well as an incident on the northbound carriageway near Junction 20 for Clevedon. The Southbound report reads: "M5 Southbound partially blocked, queuing traffic due to accident at J16 A38 Gloucester Road (Aztec West)."

Meanwhile, the Northbound incident is as follows: "M5 Northbound partially blocked, queuing traffic due to accident at J20 B3133 Ettlingen Way (Clevedon)." Traffic seems to be queuing in both directions along the motorway between Aztec West and Clapton-in-Gordano, with northbound traffic extending back further to Tickenham, according to traffic maps. The nature of the two incidents, and how many cars are involved in each, is not yet known.
