Investigations at scene after serious crash involving motorbike and lorry

A huge emergency services response was called to the scene of a devastating crash between a motorbike and a lorry in Stockport on Wednesday (December 18). Police and paramedics raced to the incident on Strines Road near Marple. The area was cordoned off with traffic diverted throughout the afternoon.

Serious Collision Officers were also called to the scene and are leading the investigation. The Manchester Evening News understands one person has been seriously injured.

Strines Road (B6101) was taped off between Station Road the B6102 Arkwright Road. The road was closed in both directions close to the Strines Nightingale pub.

Witnesses also reported seeing an air ambulance scrambled to the scene with bus services and other traffic diverted. Pictures taken on Wednesday night showed a number of police vehicles lining the road with ambulances on blue lights. Serious Collision Investigators in green coats were also seen carrying out investigations.

A white heavy goods vehicle was also pictured at the scene, thought to have been the lorry involved.

Further details have not yet been confirmed by police.

Greater Manchester Police and the North West Ambulance Service have been approached for a full statement on the incident.
