‘Drink-driver’ caught reversing on M42 motorway was ‘almost four times the limit’

An alleged drink-driver stopped after reversing on a major Midlands motorway was almost 'four times the limit' police have said. The Atherstone and Coleshill Police team posted about the incident which took place on the M42 in the early hours of Monday (December 23). Warwickshire[1] Police has been alerted to a vehicle being 'driven dangerously' after motorists spotted it being reversed on the motorway which links Birmingham[2] and Solihull[3] with the East Midlands.

The car was seen being driven along the hard shoulder, in reverse. Police officers stopped the car and the driver gave a sample of 133 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. That is almost four times the legal limit of 35mg.

The Atherstone and Coleshill team posted on Facebook and said: "A male has been arrested for drink driving at approximately 01:00 hours this morning on the M42 after a report of a vehicle being driving dangerously. "It was reported driving on the hard shoulder and reversing along it. The vehicle was stopped by officers and driver provided sample of 133 at the road-side (legal limit is 35!).

Driver in custody.
