Casualty rushed to hospital after serious lorry crash

A person has been rushed to hospital after a crash involving a lorry in North Devon[1]. Devon and Cornwall Police was called to the A39 at Shirwell, near North Devon District Hospital[2], at around 1.50pm this afternoon (Thursday, December 5). The collision involved a lorry and a pedestrian.

Police said the pedestrian was injured and taken to hospital. A stretch of the A39 northbound carriageway has been closed following the crash. Motorists have been urged to avoid the area.

Devon and Cornwall Police[3] said: "Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian on the A39 at Shirwell, at around 1.50pm today, Thursday 5 December. "One person is reported to have sustained injuries and has been taken to hospital. Local road closures have been put in place."
