Audi driver clocked up ‘117mph’ on foggy motorway ‘rushing to get to IKEA’
An Audi driver is due in court after he was clocked doing 117mph on a foggy motorway because he wanted to get to Ikea. Stunned motorway police caught the motorist racing along the M60 near Stockport on Saturday (Dec 28). He was promptly pulled over.
When asked he was asked why he was breaking the speed limit by nearly 50mph, he said he was rushing to get to Ikea. Police dealt with the driver and he will be appearing in court to face the consequences.
Most of the country has been blanketed with thick fog causing poor driving conditions on the roads.
North West Motorway Police posted about the shocking incident on X: "Driver of this Audi was sighted by GMP motorway patrol on M60 at Stockport driving at 117mph in extremely poor visibility due to fog.
Driver stated he was rushing to get to IKEA.
"Not a good enough or valid reason, He will now have his day in Court to explain his actions."
