Person taken to hospital after two cars and lorry crash on A14

A person has been taken to hospital following a crash[1] involving two cars and a lorry on a Cambridgeshire[2] A-road. The incident happened at around 5.15am on Friday (November 29). Emergency services, including the ambulance service, were called to the A14[3] near Godmanchester[4].

The road was closed on the eastbound carriageway up to J24 in Fenstanton, although this was soon reduced to one lane. There were delays of around 45 minutes and six miles of congestion in the area. One person was confirmed to have suffered minor injuries in the crash.

A spokesperson for East of England Ambulance Service[5] said: "We were called just before 5.15am to a road traffic collision involving two cars and a lorry on the A14 near Godmanchester. Two ambulances and an ambulance officer vehicle were sent to the scene. "One patient was transported to Hinchingbrooke Hospital for treatment for minor injuries."

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police[6] added: "We were called at about 5.10am this morning (29 November) to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the eastbound A14 near Fenstanton. "One of the drivers involved was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital with minor injuries. The other driver walked away from the scene and enquiries are on-going to find them.

There have been no arrests." All lanes reopened and the incident cleared at around 9.25am following vehicle recovery work. Delays soon started to ease in the area.
