M62 crash: Motorway closed both ways after collision

The motorway is shut in both directions between junction 24, for Huddersfield, and junction 25, for Brighouse. A National Highways spokesperson said shortly after 4pm: “Collision investigation will be taking place and the road is likely to remain closed for several hours. “Emergency services, including West Yorkshire[1] Police, are in attendance.

“National Highways traffic officers are also on scene to assist with traffic management.” They added: “Traffic caught within the closure is being released via the rear of the queue. “Please remain in your vehicles and await instruction from the police or a traffic officer.”

Diversions will be in place, with road users advised to follow the hollow diamond diversion symbols. The National Highways spokesperson previously described the incident as a “serious collision”. It was first reported just after 3.15pm.

The air ambulance, land ambulance, police and firefighters have all been in attendance at the scene of the incident.
