M62 closed today at junction 25 and could be shut for hours after crash

Motorists travelling on the M62 near Brighouse[1] will be redirected and ‘released’ from the queue after a serious crash has closed the both directions of the motorway. The incident was first reported around 15.22 today when the National Highways posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) and said the M62 is closed in both directions between junction 24, Huddersfield, and junction 25, Brighouse, “due to a serious collision.” For full updates see our live blog here[2] It is not known how many vehicles are involved, however, fire and ambulance crews have been spotted at the scene as well as West Yorkshire Police.

It is suspected that the motorway could be closed for several hours. A new post from National Highways – Yorkshire has said: “The #M62[3] remains closed in both directions between J24 and J25 following a serious collision. “Traffic caught within the closure is being released via the rear of the queue.

Please remain in your vehicles and await instruction from the Police or a Traffic Officer.”
