M1 crash between J23 and J23A for East Midlands Airport caused ‘long delays’
A crash on the M1 resulted in motorists facing “long delays” of up to an hour before the motorway was reopened. Two lanes of the motorway’s northbound carriageway were closed between J23 A512 Ashby Road East (Loughborough) and J23A ( Derby / East Midlands Airport / Tamworth) due to a collision on Wednesday evening (November 20). National Highways said two vehicles had been involved in the incident, with traffic officers deployed to the scene to help recover them.
The lane closures were causing more than 30 minutes worth of delays as of 6.45pm, the authority said. At one point the closures were causing around an hour’s worth of disruption but motorists were able to move freely again at around 8.20pm. It is not yet clear if anyone was injured in the collision.
