Skip lorry crashes into homes forcing road to be shut

Pictures show a skip lorry that has crashed into a row of houses on an Essex street which resulted in the road being closed. Emergency services were called out to Canvey Island this morning (October 14) to the incident. A man has been arrested after the lorry crashed directly through the front of one of the homes in the row on Haven Road on Canvey Island.

Emergency service vehicles can also be seen in attendance with cars being directed around the crash site. The road was shut this morning while emergency services attended the scene. Now, Google Maps is showing traffic has reduced in the area as crews continue to work to remove the skip lorry.

A spokesman said: “We are investigating and have made an arrest after a vehicle collided with a property in Canvey. “Officers were called to the scene, in Haven Road, shortly before 9.45am this morning (Monday 14 October). It was reported a skip lorry had collided with a property, causing substantial damage.

Thankfully no injuries were reported. “A 40-year-old man, from Canvey, was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs. He has since been released under investigation.
