Traffic on the M6 this evening
There are delays on the M6 in both directions at least in part due to an earlier crash that saw a Jaguar smash through the central reservation. The M6 northbound is experiencing delays of 48 minutes between junction 28 for Leyland and junction 31a for Longridge. Meanwhile the southbound carriageway around junction 32 is seeing delays of 30 minutes.
Lane closures are in place while repairs are undertaken. The problems on the M6, caused by an earlier crash, have had a knock-on effect with delays on the M61, and M55 towards Preston as a result. There are also delays around A59 at Samlesbury, Blackpool Road in Preston, London Road between Preston and Walton-le-Dale and around Riversway.
Severe congestion is also being experienced across Fulwood with Eastway and Garstang Road gridlocked in both directions along with all surrounding routes. A spokesperson for police said: “We were called to Junction 31 of the M6 at 12.29pm today following a report a Jaguar had collided with the central reservation. “Lane 4 on the northbound and southbound carriageways is closed while the barrier is repaired.
“Thankfully nobody was injured.” Preston Bus said they were experiencing severe delays across its whole network in the city due to the M6 issues.
