M66 LIVE as fire crews tackling huge blaze near motorway
Firefighters are tackling a huge blaze just off the A56 in Lancs this afternoon. Eight fire engines and other specialist appliances are in attendance at the incident on Grane Road in Haslingden. An eyewitness said it was a “warehouse” that appeared to be ablaze.
Smoke can be seen billowing across the area around the A56 and M66 motorway. He said crews from Greater Manchester were involved in the response to the incident, with police also at the scene. Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Incident: Grane Road, Haslingden We have eight fire engines and special appliances at reports of a fire on Grane Road, Haslingden.
Please avoid the area and keep your windows and doors closed if you can see or smell smoke.” Whilst Lancs Police’s Rossendale district said on their Facebook page: “Please be advised that there is a road closure in place on Jubilee Road to Holden Arms and St Crispen Way, due to a fire. Anyone wanting to get onto Grane will need to go up through Helmshore.
Please avoid the area to allow emergency services access.”
