M3 horror crash as car plunges off motorway bridge with one dead
A man in his 50s has tragically died following a collision on the M3, after his vehicle struck a concrete barrier and plunged from a bridge onto the carriageway below. The incident occurred near J4 on the southbound side last night, 1 October, with officers responding to the scene around 5.25 pm. The vehicle was travelling on the A325 and had just left the Ravenswood Roundabout when it veered over the bridge, ending up on the M3.
Despite the South East Coast Ambulance Service’s attendance and paramedics’ efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, reports Surrey Live[1]. Both the A325 slip road and the M3 southbound were closed for about eight hours during Surrey Police’s preliminary investigations but have since been reopened. Witnesses are being urgently sought by the authorities, particularly any sightings of a black BMW I3 prior to the crash.
Surrey Police have issued a statement asking for public assistance. They said: “We are now appealing for any information that may assist our investigation. We would particularly like to trace the movements of a black BMW I3 prior to the collision.
“If you were in the area between 5.20pm and 5.25pm yesterday evening and witnessed the collision, or you have CCTV, dash cam or helmet cam footage that might have captured any part of this incident, please get in touch quoting PR/45240112326.”
